HLI Statement on the Health of Monsignor Barreiro

FRONT ROYAL, Virginia – Following is a statement from Father Shenan J. Boquet, president of Human Life International, on the health of Monsignor Ignacio Barreiro-Carambula, director of HLI's Rome Office:

"We spoke with Monsignor Barreiro this morning, and we wanted to share his gratitude for the outpouring of prayer and concern.

"Last week, he was diagnosed with colon cancer, and was asked by his doctor to admit himself for treatment without delay. On Thursday, he had a procedure to remove a tumor, and his doctor was optimistic that the procedure was successful, although with these situations, optimism is always best tempered with caution. Monsignor will remain in the hospital for at least 10 days.

"In addition to expressing his gratitude for the prayers, he asked that we convey his trust in the Providence of Our Lord, and ask that those who will be praying for him do so in that same spirit of trust. So please join us in continuing to pray both for his comfort and recovery, and for God's will to be done throughout this difficult situation."
