.....Making matters worse is the fact
that there seems a “simple” solution these days. If the
couple cannot conceive naturally, why not use artificial means such
as IVF? Couples who decide to be faithful to the teachings of the
Church and respect the dignity of the human person by not adopting
such methods are thus often blamed. Insult is added to injury, for
it would be so “easy” for them to resolve their problem.
This talk therefore goes on to look at the ethical implications of
these methods and explains why they contradict the dignity of the
child to be born and of the parents’ themselves. The child no
longer is the fruit of her parents’ love, but a product artificially
created. The spiritual and also psychological consequences of this,
of being violated in the way one was brought into being, cannot be
overestimated. |
