FRONT ROYAL, VA—Rev. Thomas J. Euteneuer, president, Human Life International (HLI), denounces Peruvian Minister of Health Pilar Mazzetti Soler’s effort to distribute the “morning-after” pill in government clinics despite a constitutional law barring such action.

“The minister’s arrogant flouting of the law, which protects ‘conceived life’ in the womb, should be investigated as criminal,” stated Fr. Euteneuer of HLI. “Dr. Mazzetti recklessly ignores the manufacturers’ statements admitting this pill is an abortifacient, as well as the recent report of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration disclosing the same,” said Euteneuer. “Radical feminist politics always trump science,” continued Euteneuer, “and the ones who end up paying the price for their pseudo-science are women and babies.”

The abortifacient “morning-after” pill has been the subject of
much heated debate. Opponents euphemistically call the drug “contraception” in spite of the fact that it acts to prevent implantation of an already fertilized egg, or, in other words,
cause the early abortion of a conceived baby.

In distributing the “morning-after” pill as “contraception” in government health clinics, Dr. Mazzetti is employing a tactic used by proponents of abortion legalization 30 years ago in the United States. Such anti-life advocates ignored real science, changed the definition of pregnancy and told Americans that conceived life was no life at all. The result of this propaganda campaign was legalization of abortion on demand and the death of more than 44 million American babies since 1973.

The announcement of Dr. Mazzetti’s decision to unleash chemical abortion on Peru’s babies drew a delighted response from a cabal of American anti-life activist organizations such as the Center for Gender Health and Equity, which is conducting an email campaign asking other extremists to express their support of Peru’s radical minister of health. “It is my hope,” concluded Fr. Euteneuer, president of HLI, “that the response of such foreign groups signals to all Peruvians that a hostile agenda is being imposed upon them from the wealthy north.”
