The Fourth Joyful Mystery: The Presentation of the Child Jesus

Reading

“When the days were completed for their purification according to the law of Moses, they took him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord. Now there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon. This man was righteous and devout, awaiting the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. He came into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus he took him up in his arms, and blessed God. When they had fulfilled all the prescriptions of the law of the Lord, they returned to Nazareth. The child grew filled with wisdom; and the favor of God was upon him.” (Luke 2: 22, 25, 27, 39-40)

Prayer

Dear Lord, Joseph and Mary brought you to the temple in fulfillment of the precepts of the Law of Moses and out of love for God. We pray for the conversion of those who reject God’s commandments and promote practices that are contrary to the love of god and the love of neighbor. May we be examples of holiness to them as Simeon and Anna were examples of faith to your parents.
