The Third Sorrowful Mystery:
The Crowning With Thorns
Reading
“Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus inside the praetorium
and gathered the whole cohort around him. They threw a scarlet cloak
around him. Weaving a crown out of thorns, they placed it on his head
and a reed in his right hand.” (Matthew 27, 27-29)
“They began
to salute him with: ‘Hail, King of the Jews!’ and kept striking
his head with a reed and spitting upon him. They knelt before him.”
(Mark 15: 18-19)
Prayer
Dearest Lord, you offered with generous heart all the sufferings that
were inflicted upon you in the crowning with thorns for the salvation
of sinners. May our sufferings too be the cause for the remission of
sin for those who promote the works of death in our world, and may they
on day be granted the grace of true conversion of heart.
