Rest in Peace, Professor Charles E. Rice

Statement from Human Life International on the passing of Charles E. Rice, Professor Emeritus of Law at Notre Dame:

rice With the passing of Notre Dame professor Charles E. Rice, the pro-life and pro-family faithful have lost a great champion of life and faith. Professor Rice collaborated often with HLI’s founder Father Paul Marx, OSB, and with our other pro-life missionaries, including speaking at HLI conferences and several other shared projects. He did a great deal of the intellectual heavy lifting for the pro-life movement, and moved many to consider the foundations of their own ideas on the matter, if they were honest enough to do so.

“I greatly admired Prof. Rice and so appreciated his writings and his presentations all of which had a great impact on all who read or heard them,” said Patricia Pitkus Bainbridge, chairman of Human Life International’s board of directors. “I was fortunate to have known him and will miss his insights as well as his great sense of humor. Human Life International’s missionaries and staff will pray for the repose of this great friend’s soul, hoping that he soon hears the words ‘Well done, good and faithful servant.’”

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May the souls of Charles E. Rice and all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
