You might support abortion every day without knowing it
You may unknowingly be funding Planned Parenthood every time you shop.
A significant portion of Planned Parenthood’s funding flows from corporate gifts, and of course that corporate money comes, ultimately, from us, the company’s customers and consumers.
According to their 2023-24 Annual Report, 34% of its operating budget comes from “private contributions & bequests,” which would include corporate gifts.
That percentage could soon increase significantly.
Through the budget reconciliation process, Congress is considering measures that would cut most government funding to Planned Parenthood–which currently makes up a whopping 39% of the abortion vendor’s budget. If Congress slashes government funding, the top companies that donate to Planned Parenthood will be more critical than ever to its survival.
Apart from corporate and government grants, the remaining income is secured through “non-government health services revenue” (17%) and sources listed vaguely as “other” (10%). That “other” category may include income from the sale of aborted baby body parts, which was reportedly revealed in multiple undercover videos.
It’s not just the sale of fetal body parts, nor the fact that Planned Parenthood is the number one vendor of abortions in the U.S. that makes Planned Parenthood deserving of defunding. The reasons are manifold: in addition to this atrocious killing of infants and trafficking of their bodies, Planned Parenthood has also been accused of Medicare/Medicaid fraud, failure to follow safety protocols, failure to report sex crimes, and a racist work environment. Perhaps even worse, Planned Parenthood is now the leading provider of cross-sex hormones to young people, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

Why Corporate Donations to Planned Parenthood Matter
When–God willing–the firehose of government funding is finally shut off, the next step in the process of bringing down the abortion giant will be to cut its corporate funding as well. Helping in that effort is the ultimate aim of this article.
Because Planned Parenthood has dozens if not hundreds of corporate supporters, it can be hard to keep track of them all, and nearly impossible to boycott them all. The fact that the list of supporters changes frequently and that Planned Parenthood lies about its donors doesn’t make the task any easier.
For those reasons, this article will focus on only 10 of the top corporate sponsors of Planned Parenthood, based on publicly available data.
Taking your business away from these top 10 companies will have the biggest impact on Planned Parenthood’s bottom line.
There may be other corporate donors lurking out there–and potentially even bigger ones–but these are the ones we were able to confirm with reliable figures, based on publicly verifiable data.
It should be noted, too, that a significant portion of Planned Parenthood’s dollars come from foundations and nonprofits that aren’t directly associated with a corporation–but it’s much harder for the average American to influence these entities compared to corporate-sponsored nonprofits, since these latter can be starved of our money through our informed purchasing decisions.
How We Found the Top Companies that Donate to Planned Parenthood
A brief word on our methods of data-gathering is warranted before we dive into the list.
Most of the data for this list derives from three sources:
- our previous compilation of companies that support Planned Parenthood
- data available from the money-tracking research group Open Secrets
- information found in organizations’ public 990 tax forms, available on websites such as ProPublica’s nonprofit explorer and the grant site Instrumentl.
Starting with our previously generated master list of companies that donate to Planned Parenthood, we began looking up those companies’ and their nonprofit affiliates’ 990 tax forms and information on Open Secrets to obtain actual dollar amounts. This allowed us to identify the biggest culprits–that we know of.
It’s important to note, too, that most of these companies have a philanthropic arm–an associated nonprofit–that does the actual donating, such as the PayPal Charitable Giving Fund, which does the donating on behalf of PayPal Inc. (note, too, that we only included in our list nonprofits directly and obviously tied to a corporation).
How We Follow the Money back to Planned Parenthood
Not every nonprofit’s 990 tax forms were available, but many of them were, allowing us to zero in on big-dollar supporters (such as PayPal). Tax-exempt organizations are required to fill out 990 forms, which normally include a list of how much and to whom the organization gave money.
When 990’s were available, they gave us a pretty precise year-by-year dollar amount. The figures here are rounded to the nearest $5,000. For most of the companies, we looked at their giving history from 2020-2023. 2023 is the most recent year with complete, public tax information.
Our list excludes gifts made by individuals associated with a company or nonprofit or their family members. Only gifts directly from the organization, per Open Secrets database, or gifts that appear on an organization’s 990 tax form, were counted.
Gifts to Planned Parenthood Federation of America or any local Planned Parenthood organizations or facilities were combined to provide the total figure for each year.

Now, without further ado, it’s time to follow the money. Here’s the list of 10 top corporate donors to Planned Parenthood.
The Ten Top Companies that Donate to Planned Parenthood
1. PayPal
- Total (2020–2023): $1,645,000
- 2023 alone: Over $411,000
- Donor: PayPal Charitable Giving Fund
The financial technology company PayPal (through its affiliated charitable foundation) has the dishonor of being the top supporter of Planned Parenthood that we uncovered. From 2020 to 2023, the PayPal Charitable Giving Fund gave $1,645,000 to Planned Parenthood, according to their 990 forms. In 2023 alone, they gave more than $411,000.
2. Bank of New York Mellon Corporation
- Total (2020–2023): $1,330,000
- Notable years: $420,000 in 2021, $360,000 in 2023
- Donor: Bank of New York Mellon Corporation Foundation
Next up, the Bank of New York Mellon Corporation Foundation gave approximately $1,330,000 between 2020-2023 to the nation’s number one killer of babies, as reported on the foundation’s 990 forms. This included $420,000 in 2021 and about $360,000 in 2023.
3. Levi Strauss & Co.
- Total (2020–2023): At least $400,000
- Years noted: $200,000 in both 2021 and 2022
- Donor: Levi Strauss Foundation
Third place goes to the Levi Strauss & Co.–the famous denim manufacturer–via the Levi Strauss Foundation. According to its 990’s, this foundation gave a confirmed $400,000 in the 2020-2023 timeframe, with $200,000 given in 2021 and 2022 respectively. This figure is likely even higher because the organization’s 2023 990 wasn’t available to the public.
When asked about their support for Planned Parenthood back in 2015, Levi Strauss told the Daily Signal, “Like many companies, Levi Strauss & Co. has a policy to match employee donations to nonprofit organizations. Levi Strauss & Co. has made donations to Planned Parenthood for those employees who choose to support the organization.” Whether the more recent gifts reported on the entity’s tax returns are matching employee contributions or direct support is uncertain.
4. CREDO Mobile
- Lifetime total (since 1996): $3.7 million
- Estimated (2020–2023): Approx. $380,000
- Self-reported on CREDO’s website
The phone company CREDO Mobile brags on their website about donating $3,700,000 to Planned Parenthood since 1996. If we assume a roughly equal contribution each year, this would amount to around $380,000 in the three year period (2020-2023) we’ve been looking at–but this figure is not certain. What is certain is that CREDO must be donating hundreds of thousands of dollars each year to reach 3.7 million over the past 29 years.
5. Pfizer
- Total (2020–2023): $295,000
- Largest annual donation: $90,000 in 2022
- Donor: Pfizer Foundation
Pharmaceutical giant Pfizer has a “charitable” arm called the Pfizer Foundation, which has given approximately $295,000 between 2020 and 2023, according to the organization’s 990 forms. During that window, their largest gift to Planned Parenthood was more than $90,000 in 2022.
6. JP Morgan Chase Bank
- Total (2020–2023): $275,000
- Support increasing yearly
- Donor: JPMorgan Chase Foundation
The banking megalith JP Morgan Chase Bank gave about $275,000 to Planned Parenthood between 2020-2023 through the JPMorgan Chase Foundation, as reported on the entity’s tax forms. Total contributions appear to be increasing with time, jumping about $20,000 each year between 2020 and 2023.
7. Singleton Schreiber
- 2024 Election Cycle Donation: $250,000
- Source: Open Secrets
- Type: Law firm
Singleton Schreiber is a California-based law firm that, according to Open Secrets, gave $250,000 to Planned Parenthood during the 2024 election cycle.
8. Shell Oil Company
- Total (2020–2023): Over $225,000
- Donor: Shell USA Company Foundation
- Source: 990 tax forms
The Shell USA Company Foundation–connected to the British-Dutch multinational oil and gas company Shell Global–gave more than $225,000 to Planned Parenthood during 2020-2023, per their 990’s.
9. American Express
- Total (2020–2023): $170,000
- Donor: American Express Foundation
Financial companies seem to have a thing for Planned Parenthood. Position number nine goes to American Express, which gave, via the American Express Foundation, about $170,000 to Planned Parenthood between 2020-2023, according to their tax documents. In the Daily Signal article cited above, American Express stated,
“American Express last contributed to two Planned Parenthood community projects more than fifteen years ago. One project provided services to teens such as computer workshops, job preparation, mentoring, recreation and counseling. The other supported adult volunteers working with at-risk adolescents in a local school district. The American Express foundation also makes small matching gifts to support our employees in their volunteer and charitable involvements.”
This is an odd statement: $170,000 isn’t a “small matching gift” at all.
10. Bad Robot Productions
- Total (2020–2023): $155,000
- Donor: Katie McGrath and JJ Abrams Family Foundation
- Plus $145,000 more from individuals affiliated with the company (not counted in totals)
The Katie Mcgrath and JJ Abrams Family Foundation is the philanthropic vehicle of the film company Bad Robot Productions. The foundation gave $155,000 to Planned Parenthood between 2020-2023, according to their 990 forms. Moreover, according to Open Secrets, individuals associated with Bad Robot Productions gave an additional $145,000 to the abortion vendor.
Dishonorable Mentions: Other Companies that Donate to Planned Parenthood
Bad Robot Productions isn’t the only entertainment company to hold an unenviable position as a top supporter of Planned Parenthood. DreamWorks Pictures fell just short of the top ten, with a total 2020-2023 donation of $125,000.
Other well-known companies that give considerable sums to Planned Parenthood include
- Netflix
- AT&T
- Starbucks
and possibly
- Nike
- Amazon
- Expedia
- Pepsi
These companies’ contributions were either considerably less than the entities listed above, indirectly funneled to Planned Parenthood through third-party foundations, or the amounts were simply unverifiable at this time.

What You Can Do About It: Shop Pro-life
One of the best things you can do–an action that will immediately hit Planned Parenthood where it hurts, in the pocketbook–is to stop supporting these companies.
Fortunately, many alternatives are available, including some companies that explicitly support the sanctity of life, instead of undermining it, such as:
- Charity Mobile – Pro-life mobile carrier
- ProLifeFintech – Banking and finance without compromise
- Ave Maria Value Fund – Values-based investments that screen out:
- Abortion
- Embryonic stem cell research
- Pornography
- Christian Community Credit Union – pro-life banking
- Coign Visa – credit card that supports pro-life causes
- Great American Family – entertainment network with traditional values
- COL1972 – pro-life clothing line
While Planned Parenthood relies on massive government and corporate funding, the pro-life movement survives thanks to the sacrificial gifts of everyday people. This article explains how pro-lifers are dramatically outspent—and why that makes your spending choices even more important.
In addition, it’s important to give to pro-life organizations. Groups like Human Life International work to inform consumers, expose corporate complicity, heal society from the effects of Planned Parenthood, and bring the abortion industry–finally–to its knees.
Conclusion: Use Your Dollars like David’s Sling
If the abortion Goliath Planned Parenthood is to be defeated, it’s important that each of us takes up our little sling and makes shopping and donating decisions that truly align with our values and the values of a Christian society–rather than continuing to feed a monstrous organization that gorges itself on both death and cash.
