If you would like a Mass said for your special intentions which would also save unborn lives around the world, please consider sending your Mass stipends to Human Life International. We are welcoming Mass stipends for the priests in our mission field. These stipends help support our priests as they travel, present, and counsel on abortion.
Fr. Jonathan Opio, one of the priests working in the field receiving HLI’s Mass stipends, recently wrote to HLI headquarters reporting that his Masses ended on Sunday, August 7th. For Fr. Opio, these stipends are a great source of support. In addition to saving lives in Uganda, Fr. Opio is attending law school in the hopes that this degree will be a great help to the pro-life movement. His source of funding for school ended, however, in March of 2014. Since then, he has solely relied on the generous stipends of HLI donors, celebrating their Mass intentions in thanksgiving for their support.
Fr. Jonathan Opio became the country director for HLI Uganda in 2011. Since that time, he has worked faithfully to protect life in Uganda. His work has included protecting women from forced abortion, speaking up for women who have been maimed by contraception, exposing the propaganda that the anti-life movement spreads, and holding conferences and rallies for life. His most recent mission, which he has been working on for over a year, has been fighting against a new abortion policy which would give girls as young as 10 years old access to abortion and contraception without their parents consent. Fr. Opio has so far been successful in keeping this outrageous policy out of Africa, and continues to fight against it.
Contact HLI to send a Mass stipend to Fr. Opio or one of the other priests who partner with HLI. Fr. Opio says one Mass a day from Monday to Friday, one to two Masses on Saturdays, and two to three Masses on Sundays, depending on the needs of the various parishes in the Diocese of Kampala.
