Abortion in Texas: Lubbock Ban

Abortion in Texas is banned. But women find ways to travel out-of-state to get an abortion.

Lubbock has become the fourth Texas county to ban abortion travel. After Dobbs vs. Jackson overturned Roe vs. Wade, Texas banned abortion completely in the state.

However, Texans began traveling out-of-state to procure abortions. To respond to this, Lubbock has made traveling through Lubbock for an out-of-state abortion illegal. Three other rural counties have passed similar ordinances – Mitchell, Goliad, and Cochran. This ban can only be enforced by citizens who file lawsuits against those assisting Texans in procuring an abortion.
